The first practice session of Classic TT 2014 has been suspended due to a lack of marshals just minutes before it was scheduled to start.

Roads closed on time at 5.00pm for the untimed session but half an hour later the Clerk of the Course announced to the assembled competitors that the evening's programme would not go ahead as planned.

Phil Taubman explained that due to an unavoidable delay on a Steam Packet Company sailing earlier in the day insufficient marshals had arrived on island for the practice to go ahead safely.

Mr Taubman told the riders he hoped to still be able to go ahead with the newcomers speed controlled lap - all first time riders must complete one lap under the control of an experienced guide before they can take part in free practice.
