A major contender at the Southern 100 for some time, Coombes has now transferred his skills to the Mountain Course and 2009 saw him post his best ever performance with 6th place and a first ever 110mph+lap, five years after he made his debut. The Worcestershire driver has also finished in 6th place in the British Championship for the last two seasons and is now well placed to progress even further at the TT – a good outside bet for a podium place in one of the two races.
