Falkirk motorcycle ace Keith Amor faces the biggest season of his career so far after signing for a top Honda team.

He will turn out for Uel Duncan Racing at two of the most prestigious road races in the world this year.

And the former Scottish Sports Production champion was in Northern Ireland last week for the launch of his first – the 2007 International North West 200.

Last year the race, which runs between the towns of Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine, attracted in excess of 140,000 spectators and it continues to draw in world-class names.

There, Keith will climb aboard a £80,000, 200bhp Honda CBR 1000RR and a 600RR bike for the superbike and Supersport road races respectively, which take place around the testing nine-mile circuit on Saturday, May 12.

As well as that, he will also ride his own standard Site Welding Services Ltd bike for the Superstock event.

Then, during May and June, Keith will realise his own personal dream when he takes part in the famous Isle of Man TT Race as it celebrates its centenary year.

Derek McConighy of Team Amor told Heraldsport:

"Keith is in the big time now and is really looking forward to the season ahead. Uel Duncan is one of the best teams around for road racing and his inclusion really increases his profile.
"Keith aims to finish in the top three of every class at the North West 200 before going to the TT, where he's looking to be named best newcomer and claim a top 10 finish in each of those races."

The 33-year-old rider has been testing his new machine at the Donington and Thruxton circuits this week in preparation for his first outing of the season for Uel Duncan at the season opener in Kirkistown, County Down, on Saturday.

And Keith, who will race alongside Australian teammate Cameron Donald, has been hard at work to get race-ready.

"It's going to be a busy time ahead and he has something on almost every weekend throughout the season," explained Derek.
"So Keith has been training on his cardio-vascular fitness in the gym all winter to get fully prepared.
"He had a test at Stirling University last week and it showed that he has reached the level of a top athlete."

Derek added:

"Keith has been one of the more successful Scottish riders in recent times and, with the backing of his new team, he can't wait to get out there and show what he is fully capable of."
