Important Date Change for Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Race Day

Chris Palmer, double winner at the 2006 Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic (Richard Radcliffe)

Southern ‘100’ Racing, organisers of the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races have made the decision, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism & Leisure, the Department of Transport and the Isle of Man Police, to change the main race day for the 2007 event from Monday 28th May, to Sunday 27th May.

With the TT Races celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, a special re-enactment of the first race in 1907 is to take place on the St John’s Course on the anniversary of the first date, 28th May 1907, starting at 10:00am, the original start time.

Concerns were expressed over Emergency Service provision, Traffic Management and adequate Marshalling with both events being held at the same time.

Due to these factors, it was considered highly desirable in the interests of public safety to exceptionally hold the Blackford’s Pre-TT Classic Road Races on Sunday 27th May, for this year only. Special legislation to this effect had to be passed by Tynwald, the Isle of Man legislature for the appropriate Road Closing Order.

The complete schedule for the 2007 Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races is:

Friday 25th May – Practice

Roads Closed from 6:05pm to 9:35pm at the latest.

Saturday 26th May – Practice & First Race.

Roads Closed between 1:00pm and 3:45pm at the latest.

Sunday 27th May – Races

Roads Closed between 1:30pm and 4:25pm, and from 5:10pm to 8:00pm at the latest.

The traditional Prize Presentation will now take place in Castletown Square on Monday afternoon, 28th May, between 2:30pm and 4:00pm, which will also include the Concours d’Elegance.
