Pre-TT test for Finnegan

Martin Finnegan

TT star Martin Finnegan has declared himself ready for the Centenary running of the Isle of Man road race event following a successful test.

The Irish Road Race Champion travelled to the world-famous Brno circuit to put his Honda Fireblade through its paces ahead of the TT, which starts on May 26.

The plan for the two-day test was to get as many miles under his belt as possible on board the Klaffi Honda machine.

The Honda had already proved it is ready for action - Austrian Superbike rider Michael Witzeneder had earlier scored a second place on the Fireblade during the awesome mountain road race The Landshaag. Martin was there to cheer on his team during that event, but the Brno test was a chance for him to familiarise himself with the bike.

Brno is a near-perfect testing ground, a flowing 5.394 kilometres of tarmac surrounded by forests and meadows. It is a fast, technical course with long sections allowing riders to open the throttle and combinations fo fast and smooth turns.

After two days of successful testing, and many laps, Martin said:

'I'm really happy. Absolutely no problems with the bike during the tests, the Fireblade is perfect.
'Now we are ready to go for the TT.'

Martin, of Lusk, was one of the men to watch during the 2006 TT, but machine problems stopped him showing his full potential. He will be hoping the experience from last year and pre-TT tests will help the team overcome reliability issues and give a real shot at victory in the Isle of Man.
