It's 'all' about the TT!

TT star Guy Martin says his short circuit exploits are 'all about' preparing for the Centenary of the Isle of Man TT.

After scoring points in the British Superbike Championship for the second round in a row, Guy said:

'I've learned a lot this weekend and, for me, it's all about preparing for the Isle of Man TT.'

Guy, of Kirmington, managed to bring his Hydrex Honda home 16th and 15th in the two races held at Silverstone on Sunday. He said he was relatively pleased with his performance, but admitted there is more to come from him as a rider.

'The bike is better than me, but I'm getting faster each time I go out. I'm not ecstatic about it, but I wasn't far behind these so-called professional racers, and I'm a part-time road racer!
'I need to open the throttle sooner. I'm holding back a bit as I want to make sure I stay in one piece for the TT, a 100th race win doesn't happen often.'

The 25-year-old, who has lapped the famous TT Mountain Circuit at 127.678mph, described race one as a 'disaster', but said he got his finger out for race two and was happier with his performance.

Although Guy - who was just three seconds behind Senior TT winner John McGuinness during the 2006 battle for the blue-riband crown before mechanical problems ended his charge - is back in BSB action this weekend, he is already thinking about the North West 200, where practice is due to start next Tuesday, and the Centenary TT - which will burst into life on May 26.

'We're moving forward all the time and the bike is a missile. It's working brilliantly and it is only the rider that is preventing it from being higher up in these BSB races! The North West 200 is just around the corner and I can't wait to get there and see what we can do - everything is coming together nicely and I'm confident of getting some good results at the pure road races.'
