Excitement is mounting as the finishing touches are put to a blistering programme of high octane entertainment for TT fans.
PokerStars TT on the Prom will boast a stunning line-up of stunt riders, world-class performers, TT favourites and star names over nine action-packed nights outside the Villa Marina, Douglas.
World record attempts, recreations of famous film stunts, world firsts and an array of champions will make TT on the Prom unmissable.
The latest attraction to be announced is the hugely popular Manx band Back Door Slam. Fresh from touring America, releasing an album and supporting legends The Who, Back Door Slam are due to play two 30-minute sets – just one of the highlights promised for the spectacular last night of TT on the Prom.
The entertainment bursts into life on Thursday, May 31, with a unique celebration of the hard-working people whose behind-the-scenes efforts have made the TT possible. Hundreds of marshals, scrutineers, time keepers, emergency service workers, volunteers, charity members and many more have been invited to join the opening ceremony, where a parade is planned in their honour.
There’ll be some special guests, and the chance to buy a slice of a TT birthday cake produced by students at Isle of Man College – with proceeds going to TT charities. The opening evening concludes with a taste of the action promised during the rest of the festival.
On June 1, 2 and 3 there will be a chance to see some of the best stunt riders in the world battle it out for the TT Freestyle Stunt Championship title, and cash prizes!
Angyal Zoltan, fresh from claiming the World Stunt Riding Championship in his native Hungary, will take on Chrstian Pfeiffer, who, just three months ago, won the Indoor World Championship title in Streetbike-Freestyle. Also competing will be other world-class stunt riders Matti Tepsa, Humberto Ribeiro and Mattie Griffin.
Throughout TT on the Prom there will be chances to marvel at the amazing skills of the world’s top extreme trials rider Steve Colley and number one stunt driver Russ Swift – both of whom will be attempting world record bids during the festival.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Honda Bolddogs Lings Freestyle team will be showing off their staggering skills on June 4 and June 5 – including, for the first time on the prom, complete a 360 degree backflips – and the ever-popular Michael Kooij and his Pyromaniac Jet Quad will also be there to delight the crowds for five nights.
And let’s not forget the Purple Helmets – as if we could! The team will bring their fun-filled, madcap antics to the promenade on June 5 and June 8.
June 8 is the final night of TT on the Prom, and it promises to go out with a bang. As well as Back Door Slam and a full-length show from the Purple Helmets there will be two stunning laser shows, with one designed specifically for children and families.
As well as appearances by leading riders from TT2007 throughout the festival, TT on the Prom will play host to a stunning line-up of motorcycling legends. June 6 will become TT Legends Night, with world champions and TT winners showing of some classic machinery.
The line-up is yet to be confirmed, but among those invited are John Surtees, Carl Fogarty, Mick Grant and Kevin Schwantz – to name just a few.
The relocation to outside the Villa Marina will ensure the audience has an even better view of all the action, but to make doubly sure no one misses out two massive screens will show every moment of the entertainment.
You can also grab some refreshment from the TT Centenary Bar or something to eat from the wide range of catering units on the promenade.
And to make a trip to TT on the Prom even more special, why not snap-up a ticket to watch the action from the balcony above the Villa colonnade. Numbers are limited and tickets cost £5 for adults and £2 for children. On May 31 tickets are £2 with accompanied children free.
