McGuinness unofficially breaks lap record
With an hour before the full closure of the Snaefell Mountain Course for the second timed practice session, conditions were looking ideal, with more or less clear blue skies and bright sunshine and a slight breeze.
Conditions were ideal as Adrian Archibald and Ryan Farquhar got proceedings underway at 6.17pm.
Conor Cummins passed the speed trap at 182.358mph, but fastest on the opening lap was John McGuinness at 186.410mph.
HM Plant Honda rider McGuinness completed his second lap on the Superbike at a new unofficial course record at 128.492mph. Guy Martin, Ian Hutchinson and Ian Lougher all did laps in excess of 126mph.
Farquhar took his Superstock machine round at 120.445mph, while Archibald took his Superbike round at over 124mph.
Conditions were very overcast as the Sidecars set off, headed by Dave Molyneux and followed by Klaus Klaffenbock. Competitors were warned of lack of adhesion flags at Laurel Bank and the possibility of rain.
Moly only got as far as the bottom of Bray Hill before pulling in. Klaffi was first to Glen Helen, but 2006 winner Nick Crowe was ahead on the road at Ballaugh. Klaffi retired near Sulby with suspension problems.
Crowe and Daniel Sayle completed their opening lap at 113.037mph and went for a second circuit. They completed the second lap one minute faster than their first, with a speed of 114.208 mph.
The chequered flag went out soon afterwards to bring Tuesday evening’s practice session to a close.
