Foot rest woes hamper Finnegan

Martin Finnegan on board the Alpha Boilers Honda prepares for the PokerStars Supersport TT

A broken foot peg hampered Martin Finnegan’s run in Wednesday’s PokerStars Supersport TT.

After bringing the Alpha Boilers Honda home 13th Finnegan revealed he had been struggling with the fault since the first of the four laps.

He said:

Going off the line and first time through the bottom of Bray Hill the right hand foot rest bent and worked its way loose, so I spent the whole race trying to hold my foot up.’

With 37.73 miles per lap of bumps, jumps and tight turns it was never going to be easy with no foot peg, as he admitted:

'It was tough. I struggled with right handers as I couldn’t push on the pegs, so I just did the best I could and took it home.’
'I’m disappointed as I would have liked top six, so to have finished 13th is not what I had planned, but sure you can’t have everything.’

However, Finnegan is feeling good for tomorrow’s six-lap Senior TT sponsored by PokerStars.

He said:

‘We just made a couple of small changes and did one lap there in practice and it was the fastest lap we’ve done all week, so I’m feeling good.’
