McGuinness story to be film

Young actor Peter Castellucci and film crew at work

The story of TT great John McGuinness is being turned into a film.

During the Centenary TT a crew from RSA Productions, Ridley Scott’s production company, shot at several locations around the Isle of Man for the film.

The story of McGuinness – who took his tally of TT wins to 13 this year to become the third most successful competitor in the event’s history, and became the first person to lap the course at more than 130mph – is one of three films shot by RSA for Honda during the TT fortnight.

Budding actor Peter Castellucci, of Onchan in the Isle of Man, made his debut film role – playing the young McGuinness.

Peter Castellucci, 8, who appears as the young John McGuinnessProducer Andrew Barratt said:

‘Peter is playing John as a child, when he dreamed of competing in the TT like his hero Joey Dunlop.’
‘We filmed him on Victoria Pier looking out to sea at the Steam Packet ferry – just like John had done when he was a boy. He dreamed of running away on the ferry and competing in the world’s most famous motorcycle race.’

Peter’s mum Kate Castellucci added:

‘Peter really enjoyed himself – especially when they filmed him up on Marine Drive cycling on his BMX bike!’
‘It’s great that he has played such a legend in his first film role – and he’s really got the bug now!’

Peter, eight, attends drama lessons at Stagecoach theatre school and Kate and Peter are both in the Casting Network Agency in London. Kate recently played an Edwardian maid in the Beatrix Potter film made in the Isle of Man.

Peter said:

‘It was really good – and exciting.’
‘I’d like to be in another film soon – something like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean.’
