A book described as the definitive history of the Isle of Man TT has become a worldwide success, according to its publisher.

TT100 – The Official Authorised History of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Racing was launched in January to mark the 100th anniversary of the event.

Leading Manx–born journalist Mick Duckworth, who contributes to many of the UK’s leading specialist motorcycle magazines, compiled what racing experts consider is the superlative history of the legendary event. The 256-page book features a foreword by renowned motorsport commentator Murray Walker.

Duckworth has been to great lengths to secure outstanding, previously unpublished pictures from the races, along with fascinating facts, results and information surrounding the event.

The book describes in great detail the daring riders and their machines, while also shining the spotlight on its legions of fans and the people behind the scenes over the years who have helped build the TT into the world-famous event we know today.

Fond memories of the TT festival, which over the years has witnessed legendary stars of the music world from Alice Cooper to The Who, is also given extensive coverage, while Duckworth also looks at the more general impact the TT has had on the Isle of Man.

As part of the centenary celebrations, the book also includes the limited-edition set of TT Centenary Stamp collectables.

The book is currently extremely successful, as publisher Miles Cowsil of Lily Publications explained.

‘Since the book was published in January 2007, we’ve achieved significant worldwide sales of the book and continue to do so as the official title of the TT Races.’
‘We’ve gone to great lengths to ensure this, the most comprehensive history of the TT races ever compiled, contains never-before-seen pictures and exhaustive attention to detail.’
