Rock legends Status Quo will entertain TT fans in the Isle of Man it has been revealed.

On Monday evening, during the official TT launch party, Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw revealed the music greats would perform at the Villa Marina, Douglas, on June 3.

The Quo have established themselves as one of the most successful rock bands in history over the past four decades, selling tens of millions of albums and singles around the world.

The band’s hits include Pictures of Matchstick Men, Rockin’ All Over the World, Whatever You Want, What You’re Proposing and many, many more.

Tourism and Leisure Minister Adrian Earnshaw said:

‘This is great news for the TT and the department, and we look forward to welcoming these rock ‘n’ roll legends to the Villa Marina and the Isle of Man.’

Tickets, priced £35, go on sale from 10am on March 1 on the Villa Marina's website. You will also be able to purchase tickets from the ticket hotline and Welcome Centre from March 3.

There will be plenty of other attractions to enjoy away from the track during TT 2008.

Many of the events planned for the fortnight were announced on Monday evening at the launch party at the Villa Marina, Douglas.

Loch Promenade in Douglas will be the venue for a series of high profile events in race week.

The funfair, with simulators, bungee and adrenaline rides, is back and a new company will be introduced to run stunts, displays and big screen entertainment on Loch Promenade from June 6 to May 30.

There will be a spectacular fireworks display over Douglas bay from 11pm on Wednesday, June 4.

On Tuesday, June 3, the Peveril Motorcycle Club will host the popular Beach Race on Douglas beach, with motocross and Enduro bikes racing across the sand.

While the Red Arrows won’t be in attendance – the world-famous display team has prior commitments in the USA and Canada – there will be plenty of action for aviation fans.

The RAF Falcons Parachute Team will put on their display over Douglas on Sunday, June 1, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be back on Friday, June 6, and the Blades Acrobatic Display Team will be performing in Ramsey and Douglas on Tuesday, June 3.

The Moddey Dhoo Motor Cycle Club will again be running their popular meeting on Laxey Promenade.

Last year an estimated 6,000 people came down to the bike show, which featured displays by local and visiting clubs. At this year’s event, on June 5, the Isle of Man Department of Transport’s Road Safety Unit and Manx Motorsport Medical Services will be on hand to give out advise and information, while the Vintage Motorcycle Club have organised their day’s run to arrive at the show between 12.30 and 1pm and they will spend the rest of the afternoon at the event.

There will also be a sidecar trial on the rocks at low tide and live music during the show.

Ramsey will again host the popular sprint and other events are planned across the Island.
