TT Supporters' Club ready for busy 2009 TT
The TT Supporters Club will, as ever, have a high profile as the 2009 Isle of Man TT gets under way on May 30.
Based at the rear of the TT Grandstand in Douglas, club officials will be distributing gift packs to competitors who are club members. The packs, worth roughly £45, include a TT Supporters’ Club jacket, similar to the Official TT jacket but with a club logo, a bottle of ‘Club Wine’, from the French vineyard of sidecar competitors Francois and Sylvie LeBlond, and some very useful items, including duct tape, cable ties, chain spray and more.
Club members will be able to renew their memberships at the shop, open from 9.30am to 6pm and later on practice evenings, and new members are always welcome to join.
Members receive a glossy 52-page magazine twice a year. The summer 2009 edition includes in-depth articles about Olie Linsdell, Mats Nilsson, James Hillier, the Birchall brothers, the Italian competitors at the TT and Phil Edge, along with club news and various facts and figures.
The club will also be supporting the racing. The rider securing the best aggregate time over the Junior Supersport Races will be presented with the TT Supporters’ Club Trophy – a silver tray on a plinth - and the female competitor considered to have made the most meritorious performance during the TT meeting will receive the Susan Jenness Trophy, presented in memory of club member Susan, who tragically lost her life whilst marshalling an off-road event.
Again the club will be involved in the provision of energy drinks for competitors, a substantial donation having been made by the club towards the cost of drinks to be handed out to competitors to give them an added energy boost.
The club-coordinated Sports Injury Clinic will operate from June 3 to June 10, from 9.30am until late. Competitors can also contact Liz or Emma direct on 07624 258282.
There will also be the Riders’ Draw, when club president Charlie Williams will select the winners on his Radio TT show. There’s £1,000 up for grabs, with £400 for the person first out of the hat and runner-up prizes for five more lucky people.
During the prize draw radio show, Sally Wilson will be presented with the Susan Jenness Trophy by Susan’s husband Mick in recognition of becoming the fastest-ever female sidecar passenger around the Mountain Course, achieved last year while acting as ballast to Greg Lambert.
All TT fans are welcome to visit the club shop, where memorabilia, programmes, TT clothing and more can be purchased.
If you are able to assist the club in any way, please feel free to approach any official at the shop.
