Another thrilling evening in store at the 2009 TT
The scene is set for the third practice session at the 2009 Isle of Man TT, and it is expected to be a thrilling evening of action.
With the Island once again bathed in sunshine, work has already started on closing the Mountain section of the legendary TT course, with the rest of the circuit due to be closed by 6pm.
In last night’s session, the first timed practice of the 2009 TT, 14-times TT winner and outright lap record holder John McGuinness topped the timesheets on his HM Plant Honda Superbike. He also set the fastest lap in the Superstock class, riding the Padgetts Honda.
There could be more to come from McGuinness this evening, although HM Plant teammate Steve Plater and the TAS Suzuki team of Cameron Donald and Bruce Anstey will be out to make their mark as well.
Hydrex Honda’s Guy Martin and Michael Rutter, still getting used to his new Suzuki machine, will be hoping to improve on their practice performances so far.
Others to keep an eye out for include Adrian Archibald, who was flying on the AMA Suzuki Superbike on Monday, Padgetts rider Ian Hutchinson and Manxman Conor Cummins.
The solos will be followed out, at about 8pm, by the sidecar crews. 13-times TT winner Dave Molyneux and passenger Dan Sayle have set the fastest time so far for the chairs, taking the A&J Racing Suzuki outfit around at an average of 114.697mph on Monday evening.
Phil Dongworth and Gary Partridge will be looking to continue their good pace after setting an average speed of 112.4mph with the WAS Auto Centre Honda.
Manxman Nick Crowe, a favourite for victory in the two Sure Sidecar TT races, will be looking to move up the timesheets as he and passenger Mark Cox take the HM Plant Honda Racing outfit back out for another run.
The sidecar session is due to conclude at around 9pm, and reports on the session, including results, will appear on iomtt.com, the Official Website of the Isle of Man TT, shortly afterwards.
