TT hero Lougher to be honoured
Multiple Isle of Man TT winner Ian Lougher is to be honoured at Dundrod.
The organisers of the Ulster Grand Prix have confirmed Budore Corner will be renamed Lougher’s in recognition of the Team Blackhorse Yamaha rider/manager’s racing achievements.
The decision to name the 170mph section after the Welshman is a tribute to his contribution to the sport. Lougher has been racing for 28 years, notching up numerous wins at the Southern 100, Oliver’s Mount, the North West 200, the Ulster GP and the TT, where he is also the rider with the most 120mph+ average laps.
Lougher said:
‘In my opinion the most exhilarating corner on any circuit is Budore at the Ulster Grand Prix.’
‘The course itself is one of my favourites on the race calendar and I am extremely honoured and delighted with the Dundrod & District Motorcycle Club's lovely gesture.’
