The Isle of Man TT Marshals Association has a new chairman following its Annual General Meeting.
After two years at the helm, Bill Carden has stepped down and Terry Holmes has been elected as his successor.
Former Vice Chairman Mr Holmes has been involved in marshalling for almost twenty years and became part of the committee in 2005. He has also served on the Andreas Racing Committee for a number of years.
He said:
‘I am delighted that the organisation has shown this faith in electing me to such a prestigious role and I will do my best to build on the good work that Bill carried out as Chairman.’
‘We have a great bunch of people who marshal at the TT and the Manx Grand Prix and I’m really looking forward to working with everyone and making the 2010 events a success.’
Also at the AGM, Gordy Moore was elected vice chairman, Mike Barker elected to the dual role of Company Secretary and Treasurer and the committee welcomed two new members - former Motorcycle Action Group committee man Andy Wightman and Eddie Christian. Both have been involved with marshalling since the 1960s.
Former TT and Manx Grand Prix Clerk of the Course Neil Hanson and former IoMTTMA Chairman Roger Hurst have been elected patrons.
Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle said:
‘Everyone associated with the TT is really grateful for the outstanding work that Bill Carden delivered in his two years as chairman. He has done a fantastic job in ensuring that this vital organisation is able to operate to the highest standards.’
‘We look forward to working with Terry and his committee, and all the other marshals, to operate an organisation that goes from strength to strength and one that is the envy of other motorsport events.’
