Busy fortnight ahead for TT Supporters Club
It’s not only the riders and teams who are preparing a busy Isle of Man TT – the TT Supporters’ Club has a hectic schedule for 2010.
Officials will, as ever, be on hand at the Club Shop, which is again at the rear of the Grandstand. The shop is scheduled to open at 9am every day during the fortnight and close at the end of each practice and ‘late’ during race week, depending on what time the races finish.
The Club will be supporting competitors who are members with a ‘gift package’ worth about £45, with the main item being fire retardant overalls, suitable for use in the pit lane and emblazoned with the Club’s logo. Several other items, such as cable ties, will also be included.
The Club will also be involved in the provision of SIS Electrolyte Sport Drinks and Energy Gels, a substantial donation having been made towards the cost of these products to be handed out to competitors, giving them an added energy boost before setting out on the circuit.
The Riders’ Draw will take place live on the Charlie Williams’ Radio TT Show - £1,000 is up for grabs with the first name drawn out of the hat receiving £400, second netting £200 and four other winners receiving £100 each.
TT winner Nicky Crowe was the deserving recipient of the main prize last year.
Again, the Club will be co-ordinating the Sports’ Injury Clinic, which is scheduled to operate from June1 to 9 inclusive. The facility is available daily from 9am to the conclusion of practising/racing. Competitors requiring assistance should contact Liz and Emma on 07624 256302 or via the TTSC Shop or ACU Race Office.
The TT Supporters’ Club Trophy will be presented to the rider with the fastest aggregate speed across the two Supersport TTs. Ian Hutchinson with a victory and a fifth position last year is the current holder of the silver tray on a plinth.
Women competitors will be vying for the Susan Jenness Trophy, currently held by Jenny Tinmouth after her fantastic debut performance last year. Awarded in recognition of the most meritorious performance, in the eyes of Club officials, by a female competitor, the trophy is presented in memory of Club member, Susan who tragically lost her life whilst marshalling an off-road event.
Club members will be able to renew their membership at the shop. All TT fans are welcome to join, and in so doing assist competitors fulfil their dream of racing on the TT Mountain Course. Memorabilia, souvenirs and race programmes can be purchased at the TTSC shop.
