Michael Rutter will ride for the HM Plant Honda team during the 2010 Isle of Man TT, it has been confirmed.
He will replace the injured Steve Plater on the Fireblade for the Royal London 360 Superstock race.
In addition to starting the Superstock at number 16 for HM Plant Honda, the 38-year-old will contest the Superbike and Senior TT races on privately-entered Honda machinery.
“It’s great to be joining the HM Plant Honda for the TT. I’ve got great memories from riding for them back in 2005 when we claimed third in the British Superbike Championship and also won a Superbike race at the North West 200.”
“Me riding in this year’s TT was becoming a bit questionable a few weeks ago due to lack of machinery, so I can’t thank Honda and HM Plant enough for enabling me to compete in the Superstock class to replace Steve.”
“The Fireblade and the HM Plant Honda team are the best out there so with that package my plan is to go out and try to secure a podium finish, for my own satisfaction and to also repay Honda and the sponsors for this opportunity.”
Honda (UK) Racing Manager Neil Tuxworth added:
“We are very pleased to be able to field Michael on the HM Plant Honda Superstock Fireblade. We know we can work well together and have total faith in Michael’s ability in the Superstock class.”
Rutter will join Keith Amor and John McGuinness in the HM Plant Honda squad.
