MotoGP world Championship leader Jorge Lorenzo has chosen the design which will feature on his motorcycle when he laps the Isle of Man TT course for the first time.

The Spanish Grand Prix star is due to lap the Mountain circuit ahead of the 2010 Dainese Senior TT on Friday, June 11, on a Yamaha R1. He will be joined by fellow Spanish GP star Angel Nieto.

Motorcycle News invited readers to submit designs to feature on Lorenzo’s bike, and the Fiat Yamaha rider has chosen the Spartan paintscheme suggested by John Holland of London.

Speaking to MCN Lorenzo said:

“It was a hard choice, because there were many really good designs. The MCN readers are obviously very imaginative!”
“I’m really looking forward to coming to the TT for the first time and riding an R1 on the famous track. Now my bike will look really cool too.”

Mr Holland explained the inspiration behind his WarrioR1 design to MCN.

He said:

“I saw Jorge had a Spartan design on the back of his helmet and I knew it would look aggressive and great on the R1.”
“I think it perfectly sums up his style of riding and I’m chuffed to bits he’s picked my design.”
