Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing 'quietly confident' following Spanish test
Isle of Man TT star Guy Martin has completed a four-day test with his new team and his boss says he is ‘quietly confident’ they have found the right set-up for the 2011 TT.
Martin joined Relentless Suzuki by TAS Racing teammates Josh Brookes and Alastair Seeley at Cartagena in Spain for the latest test session, which concluded on Sunday.
The 29-year-old put in hard work on the Suzuki Superbike, Superstock and Supersport machines as he adjusts to a new manufacturer and team for the 2011 season.
After day one he admitted he had a lot to learn, but day three felt the team had made ‘good headway’ and everything was ‘looking grand’.
By the end of the test, TAS team manager Philip Neill described the four-day trip to Spain as ‘perhaps our most productive test ever’.
He said the track time had been vital for Martin to understand the different options available to him on the Superbike as, once the International Road Racing season is under way, the opportunities for testing are limited.
He added:
“I’m quietly confident that Guy has already found a comfortable set up with his new bikes.”
“He also carried out some productive tyre tests with Pirelli and everyone involved with TAS Racing is looking forward to helping Guy enjoy a very successful season.”
The team is now heading back to the workshop in Northern Ireland, but tests at selected British championship circuits are planned before the British Superbike season gets under way in April.
