Tinmouth awarded prestigious trophy for 2010 TT performance
The fastest woman around the Isle of Man TT course has won a prestigious trophy for the second year in a row.
Jenny Tinmouth has been chosen to receive the Susan Jenness Trophy, awarded by the TT Supporters’ Club for the most meritorious performance by a female competitor at the TT.
Tinmouth lapped at a fraction under 120mph in the 2010 Senior race, averaging 115.773mph to come home in 34th position.
Prior to 2010, her best lap was 116.83mph.
Tinmouth was not the only solo competitor vying for the trophy - Maria Costello also enjoyed a competitive TT in 2010.
Also in contention was Sylvie Leblond, passenger to sidecar driver husband Francois. In 2010 she achieved one of her TT ambitions, winning a replica. In fact, she took home two bronze replicas for finishing 15th in both sidecar races.
Now with a fastest lap of more than 105mph to their credit these replicas are fine rewards for the quiet determination and professionalism of the Leblonds.
Julie Hanks-Elliott was another competitor considered for the trophy. She experienced her fastest lap of the Mountain Course in 2010, her first over the magic ton. Originally down to partner Ruth Laidlow, she eventually became the passenger of newcomer Matt Dix after Laidlow’s late withdrawal. The pair were delighted with their 23rd place in the first sidecar race.
Created in memory of Susan, who lost her life whilst marshalling in a UK off-road event, the Susan Jenness Trophy is presented each year by her husband Mick.
