The complete line-up of entertainment at the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre for the 2011 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy has been announced.
Leading indie rock band The Pigeon Detectives complete what promises to be an exciting series of shows at the Douglas venues.
The five-piece from Leeds will perform in the Villa’s Royal Hall on Thursday June 9. Tickets for this and other shows at the Villa and Giaety are now on sale at the Welcome Centre in the Sea Terminal, Douglas, and at www.villagaiety.com.
The Pigeon Detectives formed in 2004 and have supported the Kaiser Chiefs and Dirty Pretty Things. They released their third album, Up Guards And At 'Em!, earlier this month. Their first album, Wait For Me, went straight to number three in the UK album chart in 2007 and achieved gold status soon after.
Music star Imelda May will perform at the Villa Marina on June 7 and bike fanatic Charley Boorman, best known for his travelling adventures with Ewan McGregor, will bring his one-man show to the Gaiety Theatre on June 3.
Live music will also be on offer every night of TT race week with a variety of bands performing in the Promenade Suite at the Villa Marina between June 4 and June 10, including The Heights, Soul Suspects and Black Tooth.
There is plenty more to keep fans entertained between races – there will, once again, be a funfair, the Douglas promenade entertainment will be provided by Monster Energy and there are air displays involving the Red Arrows and a Vulcan planned.
In addition there will be photo exhibitions, film shows, live music and much more to enjoy around the Isle of Man throughout the festival.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney said:
“The Pigeon Detectives will round off a varied programme being staged at the Villa Gaiety during the TT Festival.”
“With other acts already announced, including tribute rock group DC/AC on May 28, blues fusion singer Imelda May on June 7 and Charley Boorman bringing his one-man show to the Gaiety on the eve of the first race (June 3), we hope to have something to appeal to all tastes.”
