TT stars and fans celebrate launch of TT: Closer to the Edge on DVD and 3D Blu-ray

Isle of Man TT stars Conor Cummins and Richard ‘Milky’ Quayle, one of only three Isle of Man-born riders to win a TT race, met fans at the launch of TT3D: closer to the Edge on DVD at HMV on the Isle of Man.

The CinemaNX film, which is available in either a DVD pack or 3D Blu-ray Combi pack, gained exceptional box office success, amassing an impressive £1.25 million during the course of its theatrical release to become the eighth highest grossing documentary of all time in the UK.

As well as the film, which tracks the fortunes of racers such as Guy Martin, Cummins, Ian Hutchinson and John McGuinness at the 2010 TT as they race at speeds of up to 200mph, the DVD also comes with never before screened extras and behind-the-scenes interviews with the leading racers.

As part of a high profile promotional campaign, the first ever biker ‘ride-in’ screening was held on Sunday at the legendary Ace Café in London.

The DVD will also benefit from terrestrial and satellite advertising campaign on UK television.

Isle of Man Tourism Political Member Geoff Corkish said:

“The Isle of Man and the TT races continue to feel the benefit of this fantastic film.”

“TT3D: Closer to the Edge has contributed significantly to the growing profile and interest in the event, as well as the potential increase in visitors in 2012. This will continue not only with the DVD release, but also when the film is shown on satellite and terrestrial television.”

The DVD is available from the official iomtt.com shop.
