Popular racer Davy Morgan has confirmed he will contest the inaugural SuperTwin race at the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster energy.
The Saintfield rider will campaign a 2012 ER6 Kawasaki at national and International road races this year.
The machine is being prepared and supplied by Tony Morris and will be run under the familiar banner of CMS, an MOT Preparation Centre based in Blackburn.
The plan is to race a full season on Ireland’s roads and at the three International road races. The TT and North West 200 are hosting SuperTwin races for the first time, making it an exciting time to be involved in the growing class, according to Morgan
He said:
“Tony (Morris) mentioned the possibility of a 650cc ride back in August when he asked if I would be interested in riding a bike for him, I had no hesitation in saying yes as I have known him quite a while and he is a genuine nice guy and this type of machine will eventually replace the 250s that I love riding.”
“He had a few riders in mind at the time and I am delighted that he has now decided to put his faith in me and I am looking forward to getting a run on it and see how I get on. With the current financial climate it is great to welcome a major well known sponsor like CMS to Davy Morgan Racing.”
Morgan added:
“With a full complement of machinery to prepare, maintain and race at all the meetings we will be attending, it will be a busy year for myself and my loyal band of helpers. Without them and my sponsors I could not race so for their continued support I thank, Steve & Chris (Caffyn) for the CSC Racing R6 Yamaha, Trevor (Matthewson) for the Strangford Holiday Park GSXR1000 Suzuki and the Davy Morgan #71 Road Racing Supporters Club who help with general running costs of the team.”
“I also want to thank and welcome new sponsors to the team for 2012, DG&W Racing who are helping with the running costs of the 250cc Honda and of course Tony and CMS for the CMS ER6 SuperTwin Kawasaki.”
“It’s an exciting time for me personally and hopefully everyone involved.”
Tony Morris said:
“We are delighted to now be involved with Davy Morgan Racing, it is something we have been trying to do for a while and we are excited about the season ahead now that it is all sorted. We have had a lot of contact with the whole team in recent years due to my friendship with Steve (Caffyn) one of Davy’s other sponsors and we have built a good relationship with Davy and his team members, so my wife Jean, son Ian and myself can’t wait to take in a few extra trips to Ireland in 2012 to enjoy the crack and the racing.”
“The bike will be well prepared and no expense is being spared to make it as competitive as possible, so we are confident that it will help Davy get some excellent results as it should suit his smooth riding style.”
“It is an exciting time to be involved with the SuperTwin Class and in view of this myself and CMS will have a second bike on the grid at some Irish road races and at the TT, but we will announce the full plans for it later.”
To help raise funds to keep Davy on track in 2012, the DM#71RRSC are running the “Davy Morgan Golf Day” in association with Action Cancer on March 30 at Knock Golf Club. Tickets are now available at £50 Golf and Dinner or £25 Dinner Only. Contact Mark 07870559086 or David 07742 196205.
There will also be a Quiz Night at Saintfield Sports Club on February 25 at 7:45pm, £5pp, max 6 per team.
