Black Dub to Handleys Corner

Black Dub to Handleys

Spectators Guide

**** L Black Dub. Heart stopping fast left and right with no margin for error. Small amount of parking for the enthusiast. Not for kids or the fainthearted. Pedestrian access to Glen Helen between races normally OK (with authority from officials).
**** LTFD Glen Helen. Well organised parking with bikes in the Glen and cars on the car park. In addition to the views from the hotel grounds you can walk over the footbridge (modelled on the Menai Bridge in Anglesey) to spectate from positions back towards Black Dub. Good perches available on the bank or in the trees with views of Glen Helen and Sarah's. Hotel offers food and drink.
** L Sarah's Cottage. Old Sarah is long gone. Parking for a dozen cars and bikes on the left through the gateway leading up to the helipad. Usually OK to walk to Glen Helen for lunch after inspection car has toured (with authority from officials).

L Through Lambfell to Cronk-y-Voddy. Private, mainly agricultural land both sides. Ask the farmer and observe the country code.
**** TFD Cronk-y-Voddy. Approaching the head of the fast climb from Lambfell. Farmhouse on minor road outside the course normally offers traditional hospitality. Also paid parking in field adjacent to the road offering great views and Ad Hoc catering.
**** L Eleventh Milestone (Drinkwater's). Drinkwater was fatally injured here in the Junior TT on 13th June 1949. Big field inside course will hold any number of bikes and cars. Access on foot to half mile of course either side. Good view of the approach. A good day out can be had in return for a donation to the helicopter fund.
* L Handley's Corner. Named after Walter Handley, a famous rider who was killed in World War II. These days, there are only a few perches which can be reached on foot before the roads close. A better option is Shaughlaige Bridge, quarter of a mile before Barregarrow. Park at Barregarrow and walk back.
