Signpost Corner to Grandstand

Signpost Corner to Grandstand

Spectators Guide

**** Signpost Corner. A terrific spot. Altered over the years and producing high speed cornering it still retains its magnetism for the fans. All eyes at the Grandstand are fixed on the "rider past Signpost light" on the scoreboards and all ears are tuned into the commentary for the magic words "the lights on now - he's through Signpost". Plenty of parking down the slip road, accessed from Onchan. A good place to watch the closing stages of the Race.
*** Bedstead. Watch the chase down towards Governor's from inside the housing estates. Access from Watterson Lane on the inside, from Onchan on the outside. The old iron bedstead is long gone but the more recent railings do have an interesting design.
The Nook. Restricted area.
** Governor's Bridge. Tightest and slowest bend on the course and a great favourite with photographers. Wide choice of spectating positions both inside and outside of course.
***** TFD

TT Grandstand. Always an exciting place to spectate even during practising. Watch the young scouts in action on the scoreboards, the timekeepers, the painters transposing times onto the lap boards - it might be old style - but it's part of the TT magic. Scrutineers at work in the pits. The furious activities of the mechanics and support teams. Oh and you might just notice the bikes flashing past at some incredible speed!

An early visit to the Grandstand area helps in appreciating the sheer size of the Meeting. With an open choice of seating arrangements it has long been a favourite for the press and offers excellent photographic opportunities. There is also the chance that you can meet and talk to the riders. Visit the winners enclosure and see the TT stars. Browse amongst the many stalls at the back of the Grandstand.
