Biography
Eric was the first post-war Australian rider to officially represent his
country at the TT.
In 1948, he received a new AJS 7R from the factory, but crashed in practice and broke a bone in his lower back, putting him out of the races. He returned in 1949 and again rode for the AJS factory, scoring 11th in the Junior and 14th on the same bike (enlarged to 358cc) in the Senior.
He went on to take 4th place in the inaugural 350cc World Championship. In 1950 Eric retired with clutch trouble on lap 5 of the Junior TT, and finished 14th in the Senior on the same 7R.
He retired from racing in 1951 following an accident at Bathurst, and died in Sydney in July 1997, aged 86.
