Biography
The picture shows Nick Edwards and Brian Marris in 1982, the year of their first visit to the Island on a TZ750 Ireson Yamaha.
Allocated No. 76 but as tenth fastest in practice they were allocated No.40 after a retirement before the race began as a safety precaution. Three laps of continual overtaking left them 10th.
The following year running number 26 saw them take the 1983 outright win with a 2nd and 4th using a homemade fairing dubbed the ‘flying suitcase’ by the commentators.
Although very light, the sheet aluminium fairing shook itself to bits after the first race and a duplicate was fabricated for the second.
