Biography

I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1955. After attending school in Switzerland and Canada, I received a Certificate in Photography from the renowned Banff School of Fine Arts in 1974, and graduated from the University of Calgary in 1980. I currently hold an AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) Expert-level road-racing license.

My book, Classic Motorcycles (Michael Friedman Publishing Group, New York) has sold over 15,000 copies in hardcover. It focuses on the social, political, and cultural history of the motorcycle. My articles about motorcycles and motorcycle racing have been published in Advertising Age, Canadian Business, American Motorcyclist, Performance Bikes, and Classic Bike, among others. 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Racing' was nominated for a Canadian Magazine Award. I have also published numerous articles on the subjects ranging from fishing to celebrity profiles. I have been a ghost-writer for senior executives on the subject of marketing strategy, and ghost-wrote a memoir of life in the Canadian arctic.

When not writing about or racing motorcycles, I am an advertising agency creative director.
