Suzuki

A small Island in the middle of the Irish Sea would not normally be associated with the birthplace of an iconic brand's International race program, but in June 1960 the Isle of Man was that venue as Suzuki made their international racing debut at the Isle of Man TT races.

Impressing rivals in their debut event and leaving with a bronze medal, just eighteen months later those same rivals would stand up and take notice as Suzuki scored their first World Championship race victory back at the TT with Ernst Degner on the 50cc RM62, before going on to win four more rounds that year to take both the 1962 manufacturers and riders championship. All in their first full season of competition.

After such a meteoric rise, the rest of the 60's would see Suzuki effectively dominate international racing. Homegrown talent Mitsuo Itoh would take the honours in the 50cc class at the TT, becoming the first (and still only) Japanese winner at the event, while Suzuki riders sewed up the 50cc manufacturers title an amazing seven consecutive times, with several 125cc world championship titles to their credit.

Fast-forward 50 years and a retrospective look at the success Suzuki has achieved is no less impressive than those early years. Huge characters and impressive machines complement an unrivaled list of world championship victories in virtually every discipline of motorcycle sport. At the TT, the Relentless Suzuki by TAS team remain as the most successful team in TT history.

2010 sees Suzuki celebrate those last 50 years in true style, with events, racing heros and the bikes, all at the place where it all began - the Isle of Man. Join us...
