When the first TT was held in 1907, the Steam Packet Company began its now traditional service of transporting bikes and riders to the Isle of Man to experience the unique atmosphere. Today it continues to bring thousands of racers, teams and fans to the Island’s shores every year for events including the TT, International Southern 100 Road Races, Manx Grand Prix and, of course, the Classic TT.
Visitors travel to the Island on sailings from Liverpool, Heysham, Dublin and Belfast to enjoy the racing, as well as the many treasures which make the Isle of Man a perfect holiday destination.
Over the years the Steam Packet Company has sponsored races, riders and teams and has been headline sponsor of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company International Southern 100 Road Races for almost two decades. It has invested in assisting events develop and grow, including providing special incentive packages for marshals and medics, and helped motorcycle charities raise tens of thousands of pounds to support the sport.
The Steam Packet Company is also proud to have sponsored parade laps and exhibitions at every year of the Classic TT, and to be contributing towards the growth of this increasingly popular event.
Nothing matches the thrill of watching real road racing in the Isle of Man but there is so much more to discover that many bikers return outside the events to visit the famous landmarks at their own pace. It’s an opportunity to explore further and experience not only the two and three-wheeled racing heritage, but also the Island’s extraordinary history, stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, delicious local produce, thriving arts scene and Victorian steam and electric railways.
