Biography

Karsten Schmidt (* 23.11.1964) from Germany (Wathlingen) started his career in 1986 on a Yamaha FZ 750. During the next two years (1987 and 1988) he made some experiences joining the Yamaha Castrol Cup with a TZR 250.

1991 Karsten Schmidt began to participate in endurance world championships (Le Mans, Spa, Anderstorp, Oschersleben and Bol D’or) until now. He had his best result in1998 in Oschersleben with a 1st place in the 24h endurance world championship.

In 2000 Karsten Schmidt participated also in the Pro Superbike Inter DM and finished his racing season with the 5th place.

The Tourist Trophy was always something special for Karsten Schmidt and so he decided to take the challenge in 2003 and finished in the Formula One as 43rd (with clutch problems) and in the Senior TT as 38th. 2004 Karsten Schmidt also joined the TT, but in his last lap during the race (Formula One) he had an accident shortly after passing Ramsey. Nothing serious happened, but unfortunately he couldn’t finish the race. The personal lap record of Karsten Schmidt is 20:22,7 minutes with an average speed of 111.08 mph.
