Biography

Robbie started his career in 1983 racing a 400 Yamaha within five meetings he had progressed to a 250lc and was winning races. He won his first national race before the end of the season and became a development rider for one Terry Beckett Tuning at the end of the 83 season.

84/85/86 saw him win hundreds of races including Marlboro Clubman’s and ACU star rounds and hold lap records at several tracks. Over the next twenty years Rob raced and was also a mechanic at top levels.

His relationship with the Isle of Man as a dyno- technician has seen Robbie become very well known through out the race paddock at both the TT and the Manx assisting several top riders in one way or another such as Simon Beck, Joey Dunlop, Phillip McCallen, Adrian Archibald, Ian Lougher, Rob I’ Anson, Ian Duffus and of late Ryan Farquhar to name but a few.

His ambition to ride the circuit finally was fulfilled at the Manx Grand Prix 2003 when Robbie rode both the VRS 750 Kawasaki and the McAdoo Kawasaki 600 of Ryan Farquhar, Ryan can be seen in the pit photo changing Robbie’s visor, (usually the other way round), this year plans are being made for a return.
