TT regular Martin Finnegan has completed his long-anticipated move to JMF Millsport Racing Yamaha.

The double Irish Superbike Champion will lead the team’s 2008 road race campaign.

The 28-year-old, from Lusk, will ride 2008-spec Yamaha machinery at the Isle of Man TT, North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix.

Finnegan and Ballymoney-based Millsport Racing will also contest selected Irish national road race events, including the Tandragee 100, Skerries 100, Kells, Dundalk and Killalane.

The last time Finnegan rode Yamaha machinery, in 2004, he won the first of his two Irish Superbike Championships, and scored his first podium finish at the North West 200.

Speaking about the partnership with the former Irish Motorcyclist of the Year, JMF Millsport Racing’s team principal Patrick Murray said:

‘Martin has a massive following in this country, both North and South of the border, and it is great for an Irish team to have secured the services of Ireland’s leading road racer.’
‘Despite consistently achieving success over the past couple of years, we believe that Martin hasn’t yet showed his true potential, and that we can provide the platform from which he can be a regular winner at both national and international level.’

Finnegan added:

‘I have never been more excited about a season as I am about the 2008 season.’
‘I feel re-energised about my racing having signed this deal with JMF Millsport Racing, and I am sure that with this great team behind me, we can look forward to a lot of success in 2008.’
