Biography

I started racing as a sidecar passenger in 1975, competing in Club and National events at Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Lydden and Cadwell Park as well as on some temporary airfield circuits at RAF Bassingborne and Waterbeach.

At the end of 1977 I took to the track on my road going Honda 400/4 at the annual MCC meeting at Silverstone and decided to give solo’s a try.

For 1978 I campaigned the Honda 400/4 and a 250cc Ducati before changing to a Harris "Lowboy" TZ350 Yamaha halfway through the season. Throughout 1978 I also had the odd passenger outing in Mike Salmon’s Imp powered sidecar.

The Harris TZ was retained for 1979 with the Manx being the high point of the season.

Whilst the intention was to continue racing in 1980 and revisit the Manx, my plans were curtailed by the thief who purloined both my van and the TZ shortly after the Manx and brought forward my retirement plans.

I have retained my interest in road racing by assisting F1 sidecar driver Mike Salmon and his passengers as mechanic since 1991.

The team has raced at the Southern 100 (3 times until the rule changes forced out F1 sidecars) and at many International meetings throughout Europe.
