Does anyone know if it is possible to park a car at the Steam Packet office in Liverpool over the weekend?

Yes you can, but don't expect it to be there when you get back.

Very witty you feeble minded quegs. I live in Liverpool. And I take it from your reply that you never have car crime where you live?

I live near Blackpool, which is full to the brim with car crime. So is Liverpool, and stop being so defensive about it. As long as you're not one of the theiving little ****s, it's hardly your fault is it?

Let's put it this way, if it was a racist joke would it be allowed on here? No! So why are jokes that imply that I, my son/brother/sister/father etc are all thieves just because I live in a certain area considered witty and fair game? I could make jokes about certain regions and certain unsavoury activities but I don't because it is in bad taste and "mud sticks" as it were.
I am not being defensive for no reason. I am being defensive because I have good reason to, so I would suggest that people use a bit more imagination before they show how boring and unoriginal they are.

I chanced upon this quaint description of Liverpool as told by an eminent politician, which was written in the 18th Century in a letter to his darling wife:

It gives me great pleasure to tell you my beloved that I am about to leave this godforsaken place. The people who dwell in this hell are indeed the lees of society, they all have smiles on their faces and at first glance they appear genuine, but this is an illusion they are trying only to gain your confidence and then they proceed to steal from you. They are a sad lot, a mix of Irish and Gypsy brigands who came her on their way to new life in our former colony America, only they never made it, and decided instead to stay on as the opportunities to get rich quick appear to be more abundant here rather than overseas. There are a lot of inebriated people and they inhabit some of the worst slums I have seen since my day’s in India, I thank God that I am soon to return too our beautiful house in Manchester where we can once again breath the fresh air that is so sadly lacking in this heathen den.

Some things never change eh!
