Favourites to appear at Pre-TT classic

Chris Palmer, a double winner at the 2006 Pre-TT Classic, win be in action again

An array of TT favourites will be in action in the Isle of Man ahead of the Centenary event.

Chris Palmer, Guy Martin, Dave Madsen-Mygdal, Bud Jackson, Roy Richardson and Barry Wood are among the racers due to line up for the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic races.

The well-supported sidecar class also features some TT teams, including the pairings of Ian and Debbie Salter and Dick Hawes with Tim Dixon.

The races use the 4.25 mile Billown Circuit, home to the Southern 100, and will take place on May 25, 26 and 27 - the opening weekend of TT2007.

Once again the Pre-TT Classic boasts a strong field, with entries over-subscribed yet again. The organisers have again decided to include a Support Race for the 350cc and 500cc classes, which had the most entries.

For many in the field, the event will be a final shakedown before racing on the daunting Mountain Circuit, and all eyes will be on Chris Palmer as he bids to add to the two wins he notched up around the southern course last year.

After practice on Friday, May 25, the first race is scheduled for 3pm on Saturday, May 26. In a change to the normal timetable, the second day of racing will be held on Sunday, May 27, to avoid a clash with the parade being held around the St John's Course on Monday, May 28, to mark the TT's 100th anniversary.

Racing on May 27 starts at 1.30pm.

At 2pm on May 28 the open-air prize giving and Concours d'Elegance takes place in Castletown Square.
