Injured TT star Shaun Harris has vowed to keep racing in his life – possibly as a team manager.

The Kiwi suffered massive injuries when he crashed at Union Mills during the Superstock race at the Centenary TT.

He suffered leg, arm, vertebra, rib and pelvic fractures.

Former TT winner Shaun was taken to Noble’s Hospital for treatment, where he remained in the intensive care unit for some time.

He has recently been moved to Leeds General Hospital for continuing treatment.

There has been widespread concern about the popular racer, and now Shaun has been able respond to his fans for the first time since the accident.

In an internet forum post responding to the long list of contributions from concerned fans, Shaun said:

‘Sorry I have not read all pages as I get too tired too quick and my smashed body is a wee bit tricky to deal with.’
‘I only understand going fast not crawling around like this. I have been very lucky with my race career.’
‘There have been some amazing, truly humbling things done and said about me and I am so happy to have made such a good impression on the team. Thank you all, it really helps me fight and find more positives to fight for.’
‘I cannot be bothered explaining in full my medical condition, but with my spirit, my doctor Toby Branfoot and the love of my family and friends I will beat this and hope to keep racing in my life, as I love it.’
‘Team management is where I am heading. I believe I have heaps to give back to our sport.’
‘Anyway, to everyone out there, thanks very much, and sorry to some people, because I will be back!’
