Farquhar ready for more success
Ryan Farquhar scored four wins from four starts on his return to racing following a ‘sabbatical’ after the Isle of Man TT.
The Dungannon man showed he has lost none of his prowess with victories at the Faugheen Road Races, round 15 of the Duke Road Race Rankings.
After a wet practice, conditions were perfect for racing on 2.2-mile County Tipperary course as Farquhar scored a 1.8 second win over Manxman Conor Cummins in the Open Championship race. Ballymoney’s William Dunlop was third.
Farquhar headed Cummins home again in the 600cc Supersport race and the non-championship 600cc competition. His fourth win came in the Tegral Grand Final, ahead of Dunlop.
Showing he is back at his best, Farquhar set four fastest laps including a new lap record of 100.908mph in the championship 600cc race.
Farquhar is now ready to rejoin McAdoo Kawasaki Racing for the Mid-Antrim 150.
A spokesman for the team said:
‘Last weekend was a real confidence-booster going into the Mid-Antrim 150, where Farquhar returns to the McAdoo Kawasaki Racing outfit.’
‘The McAdoo team, supported by Cookstown-based Go Forecourt, are certainly ready to “GO” after sitting out the TT and subsequent road races following Raymond Porter’s withdrawal from the sport.’
‘The last time the team competed at the Mid-Antrim was in 2004 when Ryan won the feature race of the day on a McAdoo ZX-10R Kawasaki – we’re certainly hoping lightning can strike twice!’
The top three in the Duke Road Race Rankings remains unchanged, with Cummins leading from Guy Martin and Ian Lougher. Farquhar has moved up five places to 18th.
