Miller confirms TT deal
American star Mark Miller has secured a last minute deal with the Ice Valley Speedfreak Racing concern to confirm his place on the entry list for the 2008 Isle of Man TT Races.
Miller, 32, is one of the many stars to emerge from the rider recruitment programme and, having made his debut in 2006, the Californian has become a permanent fixture in the top 25.
In his six TT races so far, he has taken six bronze replicas with a best finish of 17th in last year’s Senior, also posting a personal best lap of 121.756mph to become the fastest American rider in the history of the races.
A former AMA podium finisher, Miller has also scored numerous top six finishes at the Macau Grand Prix, but, having submitted his entries, a question mark remained about his machinery.
It has now been confirmed he will campaign on Yamaha machinery for the Ice Valley Speedfreak Racing concern, owned and managed by fellow TT racer Paul Shoesmith.
The tie-up will give Miller a great chance to score some top results and further add to his TT credentials.
Paul Shoesmith said:
‘I’m delighted to have a rider of the calibre of Mark Miller joining the team.’
‘He’s got a great track record and I’m sure he’ll build on it this year. We are all now practicing our high fives to make him feel at home.’
Isle of Man Government Motorsport Manager Paul Phillips added:
‘I’m really pleased that Mark has secured his deal as he is a welcome face around the paddock and has the ability to be a real star performer at the TT on the right machinery.’
