Although the sun isn’t shining as brightly as on Thursday evening, conditions around the Isle of Man TT circuit are looking good and the final session of the 2008 Practice Week is scheduled to go ahead as planned.

There is some evidence of low-lying cloud around the Isle of Man, which may cause problems later, but it’s hoped the session will remain clear.

Friday evening is the last chance for competitors to prepare before the first races of the 2008 TT, the Dainese Superbike TT and Sure Mobile Sidecar TT Race One – both due to take place on Saturday.

The Mountain section of the course closed at 5pm, with roads around the rest of the circuit due to close at 6pm. The first solo machine is expected to leave the TT Grandstand in Douglas at about 6.20pm.

After the solo machines have completed their session, the sidecars are due out.

Friday’s practice session will be an important one for many, with some teams playing catch-up after bad weather interrupted Tuesday evening’s session and led to the cancellation of the session planned for Wednesday evening.

On Friday afternoon there were problems for the Isle of Man’s telecommunications network, causing issues for mobile phone users and subscribers to the TT Live! service, who experienced interruptions to the Manx Radio TT feed.

Manx Telecom is reported to have identified a problem and carried out work to restore a limited service. The full service is being restored in a controlled manner and the situation monitored by engineers, according to reports.

You can follow the action from Friday evening’s practice session as it happens with TT Live!

The service gives subscribers access to Manx Radio TT’s practice and race commentary, live timing, speed trap data and as-it-happens news.

Or you could sign up for the TT Live! Gold service, which gives subscribers all that plus access to video footage of leading riders being interviewed, webcams at the TT Grandstand, live TT trivia and, during Race Week, video highlights of each race day.
