‘Remarkable’ results at the Manx Grand Prix last year led to a leading fuel supplier backing Manx racing star Dan Kneen for this season.

The 21-year-old will make his debut in the Isle of Man TT in 2009, racing with the latest four stroke fuel supplied by racing fuels specialist Petrochem Carless.

Graham Eden, performance fuels manager for the company, said the support is in recognition of Kneen’s achievements at the 2008 MGP, where he became the first rider in the event’s long and distinguished history to win three races in a week.

In addition to racing at the North West 200, Southern 100 and in the British 600 Superstock series, Kneen will ride a K7 Suzuki at the TT. The machine has been provided by London-based chartered accountants Marks Bloom and race-prepared by former Carl Fogarty chief mechanic Slick Bass.

The Carless Hiperflo MOTO 4T Racing was recently tested with glowing endorsement from Bass, who notched up four championship titles, 48 wins and 18 pole positions in World Superbike with Fogarty.

Kneen, whose dad Richard and his four brothers all raced competitively, said:

‘I am really looking forward to following in the footsteps of my father and uncles and build upon last years achievements.’
‘We have good bikes and now top class racing fuels so it looks like its all down to me – no pressure then!’

When Petrochem Carless launched its new Hiperflo MOTO 4T Racing at last year’s MGP, Graham Eden pledged the company’s support to enable a young, home-grown rider to compete at the TT.

He said:

Dan’s achievements in the 2008 MGP were nothing short of remarkable and we had no hesitation in offering our support.’
‘He is likeable, down-to-earth and talented. Although we do not sponsor individuals in any form of motorsport, this gesture is in recognition of his recent achievements and our pledge to provide support to a young Isle of Man racer ready to make his mark at the TT.’
