Dan Kneen, one of the rising stars of the Isle of Man TT, has made a successful return to short circuit racing after breaking his collarbone.
The Manxman suffered the injury at the Knockhill round of the British Supersport Cup, but completed his recovery in time to attend the Brands Hatch race on Sunday.
The Braddan-based 23-year-old survived an incident-packed race to finish 14th overall and third in the privateers’ class.
Despite a good result, Kneen wasn’t entirely happy with his performance.
He said:
“I was struggling with handling issues through the race having made a change to the bike after warm up, the setup wasn’t quite right, and this seemed to make me down on speed on the straights. I just wasn’t getting out of the corners properly.”
“However the shoulder was fine and I stayed on, which a lot of the field didn't, and I scored some good points for the championship”
Kneen is now fourth in the points table with four rounds remaining.
His next appearance will be at the Ulster Grand Prix this weekend, and after proving his mettle on the TT course he will be looking for more success on his Marks Bloom/Slick Performance/West London Suzuki-sponsored machines.
