John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson will be among the stars attending the 2011 Day of Champions

Racing fans will have a rare chance to see some of the biggest names in the sport’s history up close during the 2011 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.

Grand Prix legends Mick Doohan and Giacomo Agostini will be joined by fellow stars of the past Steve Baker, Mick Grant and Chas Mortimer at a special event organised as part of the Mountain course’s Centenary celebrations.

Modern TT heroes John McGuinness, Michael Dunlop, Guy Martin, Ian Hutchinson, Bruce Anstey and Cameron Donald are also due to attend the Day of Champions.

The event will take place in the pit lane, in front of the TT Grandstand, between noon and 3pm on Thursday June 9.

There will be interviews – conducted by Manx Radio TT presenters Tim Glover and Chris Kinley – with the TT stars and visiting guests, many of whom will be riding in the Milestones of the Mountain and Yamaha Classic Race Team parade laps the next day.

There will also be an auction on behalf of the TTRA (TT Riders Association).

Isle of Man Tourism political member Geoff Corkish said:

“This will be a great day of celebration for the TT Races and I hope as many fans as possible can get down to the Grandstand and take the chance to hear the thoughts and views of these motorcycling legends.”

Grandstand tickets for the day are available at £5 each and there is also the opportunity to purchase a VIP ticket, costing £75, which will include tea and coffee, a buffet lunch and all-day access to the VIP suite, where there may be an opportunity to meet the stars who will be taking part in the Day of Champions.

Tickets go on sale on May 9, and are available from the iomtt.com shop.
