Top names lined up for post-TT road race action at Billown
A strong line-up of racing stars will attend the Post TT Road Races, the meeting at the Billown circuit which will bring the curtain down on the 2011 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy.
After the action around the Mountain course ends, all eyes will be on the 4.25-mile circuit in Castletown for the traditional event-closing races.
Held on June 11, practice and qualifying for the Post TT Road Races is held between 1pm and 4pm, with racing starting at 5pm with the combined 125cc and 400cc race. That is followed by the 250cc and 650cc SuperTwins race, then finally the 600cc Supersport race.
Each race is over eight laps.
Entries have closed and top class line-up of riders have been confirmed for the Post TT Road Races.
William Dunlop tops the list. He achieved a hat-trick of victories at the 2010 meeting, bringing his tally of wins at the Post TT races to four. William was one of the first to enter for this year’s event with 125cc and 250cc Honda two-stroke machines, the 250cc supported by his brother Michael and the Wilson Craig 600 four-cylinder Honda.
However, the Ballymoney man won’t have everything his own way as two regulars at the Post TT Road Races - with 18 victories between them - will be trying their best to thwart last year’s maestro taking the chequered flag first.
Ian Lougher, with 11 wins at this meeting so far, has entered three races on his 125 Replicast Honda and a brace of Kawasakis, a 650 sponsored by Stewart Smith and his Blackhorse-supported 600.
Lougher’s long time rival Chris Palmer, who has seven victories at the Post TT event, will re-new the friendly rivalry riding the Mannin Collections 125 and 250 Hondas.
Dan Sayle, the current Sidecar Champion Passenger, will be having an outing on his pair of ‘lightweight’ Hondas and will be mixing it with Dunlop, Lougher, Palmer and the other two-stroke specialists entered, including the other Dunlop family racer, Sam.
Davy Morgan will have a 250cc Honda at his disposal, along with the 600 CSC Branson Yamaha to challenge his fellow Ulsterman William Dunlop, 2010 Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Si Fulton, Lougher, Mark Buckley, John Burrows, Ivan Lintin and another ‘veteran’ of the Billown circuit Paul Cranston, who is enjoying his 34th racing season!
