Isle of Man TT regular Guy Martin will get his road racing season under way at the Cookstown 100 on April 27-28.

The Tyco Suzuki racer said the event will be a warm-up for the 2012 Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy, where he hopes to finally secure his first TT victory.

Writing on his team’s blog, Martin said:

“I’ve caught up with all the boys again and enjoyed a gibber with Stewart Johnstone, Josh Brookes’ new crew chief and he’s some boy. Top lad indeed.”

“I’m just sorting the diary with Hector and Philip (Neill) and as I’m sure you all already know, I’ll be at the Cookstown 100 for a run out which should be a bit of craic alright.”

“I thought it would just be the wee 600 and ‘stocker, but Philip tells me I’m taking the big girl out. Now that’s a job indeed and will give us enough grunt to keep Farquhar and Dunlop honest, but it’s more for a run out before the North West and TT - but she be right.”

Martin also had an outing with the TAS Racing-run Tyco Suzuki Superstock machine at Thruxton at the weekend, for the latest round of the National Superstock 1000cc championship. He retired from the 15-lap race after eight laps.
