Michael Dunlop added his name to the list of riders who have won two TT wins in one day - and those who have scored a treble of victories at one meeting.

Riding his own MD Racing Hunts Honda Fireblade the Ballymoney man made a steady start to the race as Gary Johnson surged away into the lead on his Lincs Lifting ZX10 Kawasaki.

By Ramsey on lap one Michael was up to second but trailing the Lincolnshire rider by 3.227 seconds. Guy Martin on the TAS Suzuki followed in the third place 1.519 behind Dunlop and 19 time TT winner John McGuinness was just another 1.786 seconds down on him.

Those posiions stayed the same until the pitstop at the end of lap 2 where Guy picked up a 30 second penalty for exceeding the speed limit, relegating him to fifth place at Glen Helen. McGuinness moved into third with Dean Harrison on the RC Express Racing by MSS Performance Kawasaki taking the fourth spot.

Martin was out at Glen Duff on the same lap, Bruce Anstey moving into his vacated fifth place while Dunlop closed the gap on Johnson to just 2.972 seconds by the start of the fourth, and final, lap.

It was as if someone had turned the taps on for the Ballymoney man as he went on to set a scorching class lap record at 131.220 mph to win by 16.577 seconds from Johnson who developed a small oil leak on the last circulation - John took his second third place of the week 30.226 seconds down on Gary.

McGuinness, as the outright lap record holder no stranger to speed, said he had never seen riding like Michael on the last lap in all of his TT experience.
