Louth racer Peter Hickman completed his first race at the Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy with an amazing 14th place in yesterday's 6 lap Dainese Superbike race to pick up a silver TT replica at his first attempt.

'Hicky' had already made history by becoming the fastest ever newcomer in the first qualifying practice on Monday with a speed of 115.103mph and went on to improve further with each outing until he recorded a fantastic 123.329mph lap around the 37.73-mile mountain road course in Friday's final qualifying session.

He started the Dainese Superbike race from 25th position on the grid, having moved up from an original start number of sixty based on his qualifying times and at the end of lap one he was up into 22nd place setting another fastest time of 123.954mph.

Hicky made steady progress on the BMW/Ice Valley by Motorsave Trade machine and by the half way stage was up to 18th place and posted his fastest time of 126.195mph on the final lap crossing the finish line in 14th position.

To make it an even more impressive debut he was the first Superstock bike home and also the first privateer rider across the finish line. A happy Peter Hickman said: “I am delighted with this result, this place is awesome and for me to finish 14th on a Superstock machine in a grid full of Superbikes is amazing. I would have been pleased if I had won a bronze replica but to win a silver is something else; I am over the moon. I have to say a big thank you to Shoey and the team plus DazzaJ, Kev and Sezza for their hard work and support.”

Hickman's next race is on Monday at 2pm and once again he will be riding the BMW/Ice Valley bike in the RL360 Superstock race, this time over four laps of the iconic TT Mountain course.
