John McGuinness on the Mugen at Kirk Michael

Records are expected to be shattered in the SES TT Zero today as the Mugen Shindens of John McGuinness and Bruce Anstey go head-to-head.

The high tech electric powered machines have repeatedly raised the bar in practices with the fastest laps swapping between the 'Flying Kiwi' and 'Morecambe Missile' in qualifying sessions.

John McGuinness set the pre-race benchmark at 115.597mph - over 20 seconds quicker than Anstey's own impressive 113.642mph.

While Mugen might have the edge in development terms there are interesting entries further down the field including the revived Sarolea brand from Belgium, the stalwart ION Horse from Kingston University and the ARC -EV3.

The SES TT Zero takes place over one lap and starts at 10.45 am.
