Manxman ready for 'damn good go' at winning first TT

The world’s fastest road racer is set for a ‘damn good go’ at winning his first Isle of Man TT.

Conor Cummins said it would very special to become only the fourth Manxman to win a TT.

Speaking in the latest edition of the TT Newsletter, the Ramsey man – who took second place in the 2009 Senior TT - said he is ready to move up to the top step.

“I think I can win TT races - only time will tell.”
“For a Manxman to win a TT is something very special and it would be great for the Island too, and most of all for me and my family.”
“I’m up for having a damn good go at it!”

The 2007 Duke Road Race Rankings winner also reflects on the emotion of that amazing podium place finish in the blue riband Senior Race.

“It was truly brilliant going through Ramsey on the final lap. Everyone was clapping and cheering me on and it was just a really emotional experience (no tears).”
“However I now want to take it to the next level and make that top step!”

In the interview Cummins talks about his achievements in 2009, whether his future lies on the roads or short circuits, the advantage of sticking with McAdoo Kawasaki for another year and his superb second place at Macau.

Cummins also offers his top tips on places to visit in the Isle of Man, and local delicacies visitors must sample.

He says:

“I would have to be biased and say come to Ramsey because I live there. It’s a lovely little town at the north of the Island with some great pubs and feeding houses.”
“You’ve also got to try Bushys brewery, Manx Kippers and Davisons Ice Cream.”
